Bhavna : The bhavna of Utthapan is that Shri Thakorji is woken by his friends the gwalas who remind him that now they have to leave for Nandalay as the sunset is near. Moreover, they also remind him that all the Gopis and mother Shri Yashodaji would be eagerly waiting for Shri Krishna to return home after toiling in the afternoon. On hearing this prabhu gets ready to return home after taking a short snack of fruits.

Sewa-Kram : This sewa-kram is generally done by those vaishnavas who are doing Ashta-yaam sewa. Ring the ghantaji (bell) three times (like mangla) and enter the sewa room and first do dandvat to prabhu. After that take away the trishti, malaji and all the things near the shaiyaji (for deatails refer to Rajbhog sewa-kram) and wash them with water. Also take away the sujani after taking agya (permission) and place the chowpad in it's place near the khand. Now refill the jhariji and place it on the sinhaasan. Offer bhog of fruits and leave the sewa room after doing vigyapti.

Duration of Bhog : The timing of Utthapan bhog is ideally 10-15 minutes.

Some Important Words

Ashta-yaam sewa : In this type sewa is done both in the morning and evening. Generally the vaishnavas of today do not give enough time/importance to sewa and as a result they curtail the period of sewa and complete it in one sitting (mostly in the morning). The clear example of 'Ashta-Yaam Sewa'  is prevalent in the havelis of Pushtimarg. Today 'Ashta-Yaam Sewa' has become very rare in vaishnavas' houses which is very sad as the real essence of sewa is experienced in 'Ashta-Yaam sewa' only.
